Energy Psychology & Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

How EFT Helps Calm the Nervous System

What if healing didn’t have to rely on talking through the same painful story over and over?

Energy Psychology is an evidence-informed approach that combines modern psychology with the body’s natural energy system to help reduce emotional distress, regulate the nervous system, and support lasting emotional well-being. Rather than focusing only on thoughts, Energy Psychology works with the mind and body together to help release stress patterns that may be keeping you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally stuck.

These patterns are closely connected to how your nervous system responds to stress and threat states. You can learn more about this here: Nervous System Dysregulation

How subconscious patterns keep us stuck

Many of the emotional patterns we experience in daily life—feeling stuck, repeating the same emotional cycles, or struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or relationship difficulties—are often influenced by subconscious beliefs formed earlier in life.

These limiting beliefs are not just “thoughts.” They are often linked to the nervous system’s protective responses. When a belief feels emotionally true, the body can respond as if it is still unsafe to think, feel, or behave differently. This is part of why certain patterns can feel so persistent, even when we consciously want to change them.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) as a mind–body bridge

One of the most widely researched and effective Energy Psychology methods is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as meridian tapping. Developed by Gary Craig and rooted in principles of traditional Chinese medicine, EFT is often described as “acupuncture without needles.” By gently tapping on specific meridian points while bringing awareness to thoughts, emotions, or limiting beliefs, many people experience a noticeable sense of calm, emotional relief, and greater resilience.

EFT can help interrupt these subconscious patterns by working directly with the body’s stress response while bringing gentle awareness to the underlying belief—creating space for change at both a cognitive and emotional level.

You can also experience EFT in practice through my Release Anxiety with EFT Tapping workshop, where you are guided step-by-step through this process in a supportive setting.

Research suggests that EFT may help lower cortisol—the body’s primary stress hormone—while reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic stress. Studies have also found positive effects on emotional regulation and markers related to immune function.

Many people find that EFT offers a different kind of healing because it does not rely solely on talking or analyzing the story—it works directly with the nervous system and emotional patterns held in the body.

If you’ve tried talking through your challenges but still feel emotionally stuck, EFT may offer the missing piece by helping your mind and body work together in the healing process.
